About PSG
The Professional Service Group of Central New Jersey at Somerville (PSGCNJ) is a nonprofit organization that is part of New Jersey’s Department of Labor and Workforce Development One Stop Career Center system. As one of several such groups throughout the state, it acts as a networking and training resource for its members. In addition, the PSGCNJ also tries to match its job-seeking members to companies with job openings. Companies are under no cost or no obligation to use PSGCNJ resources to find a member for a job opening they need to fill.
PSGCNJ’s services include job leads and seminars in resume writing and interviewing skills, as well as a large networking organization to exchange contact information.
It also offers both large corporations and small companies an impressive pool of professional applicants with a wide range of backgrounds and skills. Unlike job boards and employment agencies, PSGCNJ offers this service at no cost or obligation.
The PSG is operated and staffed by volunteer members. Activities on committees, such as administration, membership, opportunities, marketing, programs, training, and technology by participating in special projects, help job seekers keep their skills up-to-date and help the PSG succeed.
To become an active member of PSGCNJ and take advantage of the services it offers, participants must do the following:
- Attend Orientation
- Complete training courses
- Attend at least one weekly Monday morning meeting per month
- Volunteer three hours per week to PSGCNJ, usually by working on committee activities and functions
PSGCNJ wants to expand its successful rel
ationship with area businesses. To post a job opening, a company should send job requirements to PSGCNJ by using one of the methods shown below. It should include contact information and how it would like to receive resumes, either via e-mail or standard U.S. mail. PSGCNJ will match the company’s requirements to appropriate members in its database who fit the company’s needs, and then facilitate contact.
In addition, PSGCNJ will add a business to its database. Firms in the database receive profiles of active job seekers on a quarterly basis, via a choice of e-mail or U.S. mail.
